The Decembrist Museum and the art museum showed the life of Irkutsk merchants at the Sukachev Estate, continued at the Volkonsky Estate.

From 10 July to 20 September 2026 the Irkutsk Decembrist Museum and the V. P. Sukachev Art Museum held the joint exhibition “Irkutsk 365. Of Estates and Fates”. The first part, at the Sukachev Estate (112 Dekabrskikh Sobytiy Street), took visitors into the world of the Irkutsk merchants: the mayor’s study, a portrait gallery of the family, the formal dining room, the winter garden. Costumes of the 19th and early 20th centuries from the Decembrist Museum’s collection were on show.

The second part of the project was at the S. G. Volkonsky Estate; a ticket to one estate gave a discount at the other. Vladimir Platonovich Sukachev was a merchant, mayor of the city, honorary citizen of Irkutsk and a passionate collector.
