The sixth dictation was devoted to the 30th anniversary of Baikal’s status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

More than 20,000 people took the sixth Baikal Ecological Dictation at 690 venues in 50 regions of the country — in schools, universities, libraries and cultural centres. The text was devoted to the uniqueness of Baikal, its natural, cultural and historical heritage and the traditions of the peoples of the Baikal region. Each participant receives two marks: for knowledge of Baikal studies and for literacy.

The 2026 dictation was timed to the Day of Ecological Knowledge, the 30th anniversary of Baikal’s inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List and the Year of the Baikal Seal — the seal became the symbol of the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation in 2026. The dictation was first held in 2021 at Baikal State University on the initiative of the Irkutsk branch of the society; over six years more than 60,000 people have taken part.
