A new playroom has opened in the pediatric neurology ward of the Ivano Matrenin Hospital, where children can take a break from treatment and briefly forget their illness.

As the project participants say, beautiful and cheerful fairy-tale rooms filled with toys are simply necessary in children’s hospitals, because it is there that a child can at least for a while forget about their troubles. One such room has opened in the pediatric building of the neurology department of the Ivano-Matreninskaya Hospital. Doctors are confident that play therapy is one of the best treatment methods. After all, every day children with illnesses of varying severity are admitted to the clinic, and during the day they receive qualified medical care. In their free moments, some of the children are visited by relatives, but for the most part many children are in the hospital alone, far from their loved ones and family, and some have been abandoned by their parents. That is why the children simply lack positive and beneficial communication. And here, according to sponsors and volunteers, playrooms come to the rescue.
“The goal of this play-based method is to organize systematic work on children’s leisure time during their stay in the hospital (creative activities, holidays, birthday celebrations. This was a long time ago, back in Soviet times. There were always teachers who worked with children, taught them, and read books to them. A child needs communication. The brighter the spirit, the faster the recovery,” notes the chief physician of the Ivano-Matreninskaya Children’s Hospital, Duma deputy Vladimir Novozhilov.
