“Golden Couples” honored in Irkutsk
“For the 17th year in a row, on the eve of the New Year, we have been holding this kind, wonderful event, which is attended every year by more than 100 married couples who have lived together for 50 years or more. Each married couple is not just a golden couple, but the golden reserve of our city, a worthy example to follow. You built BAM, the Irkutsk and Bratsk hydroelectric power stations, discovered and developed new deposits, and created industrial enterprises. You have lived through many events and raised children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Thank you for everything! On behalf of the city administration, I wish you health, happiness, and many long years of life surrounded by your family and loved ones,” said Igor Borisov, Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy and Culture of the Irkutsk city administration, in his welcoming speech.
Top performers and creative groups of the city performed for the anniversary couples. After the concert ended, all participants in the event were presented with congratulatory letters, commemorative gifts, and photographs.
