In Irkutsk, a regional information and tourism center is planned to open in the first quarter of 2013 at the state linguistic university. It will help shape a positive image of the Angara region and provide tourists with detailed information in eight languages, as well as about hotels, events, transport, and food services. The center also plans to certify tourism translators and launch a multilingual hotline for visitors. In addition, university students will be able to do internships there, which should improve the quality of specialist training.

The center will be located on the basis of Irkutsk State Linguistic University, and its launch is planned for the first quarter of 2013. The center’s task is to create a positive image of the Angara region in order to promote the region’s tourism brand, as well as to organize a comfortable information environment for Russian and foreign tourists. Visitors to the institution will be provided with the most complete information about the region’s tourism potential in Russian, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Chinese, and Korean. This was reported by the head of the Tourism Agency of the Irkutsk Region, Marina Rozhkova.
Visitors to the center can obtain information about regional tourism products, hotel services, cultural and mass events, exhibitions and displays, festivals, concerts, transport infrastructure, and food service establishments.
– On the basis of the regional information and tourism center, certification of translators in the field of tourism will be carried out in order to protect the rights of consumers of tourist and excursion services and improve the quality of tourist services. In addition, it is planned that a telephone “hot line” - a call center for tourists in different languages - will be organized at the center, the head of the tourism agency emphasized.
As noted by the rector of Irkutsk State Linguistic University, Grigory Voskoboynik, students will be able to undertake internships at the center, which will improve the quality of translator training.
As a reminder, at present the tourism agency, on the instruction of the Governor of the Irkutsk Region, Sergey Eroshchenko, is working on developing a concept for tourism development in the region, within which one of the measures is the creation of a tourism internet portal.
