In Irkutsk, the contest for a sculpture for the perinatal center was summed up. Among the works were Childhood Pyramid, New Life, Maternal Care and other compositions about mother and child. The chosen sketches will be refined and then reviewed by the Art Council. The new sculpture is to become a symbol of a happy family and the city, and it is planned to be installed in the square by the perinatal center with private funds.

“Pyramid of Childhood,” “New Life,” “Maternal Care,” “Sprout of Life,” “Dryad – Mother of the Forest,” “Birth,” and about a dozen compositions titled “Mother and Child.”
Most of the works presented are student works. As the contest organizers explained, this is no coincidence. Student works are distinguished by a special vision and are interesting for their unique format.
The competition to create a sculpture for the perinatal center was announced in September by the city charitable foundation “Heritage of Irkutsk Philanthropists.”
“This should be a good, complete, and mature composition,” noted Marina Kondrashova, chair of the board of the foundation “Heritage of Irkutsk Philanthropists.” “The sculpture should become a symbol of a happy family and a symbol of the entire city. We want weddings to come to the square that will be laid out near the perinatal center, so that this becomes a good tradition for the city.”
As the organizers noted, the selected works will be returned to the authors for refinement. After that, they will be reviewed by the Art Council under the administration of Irkutsk.
The sculptural composition will be made with private capital funds.
