Irkutsk Region was among eight regions selected for the pilot project to introduce a sports passport. The Russian government estimates the new system will cut information exchange costs and save budget funds, and for the region it will be the first step toward a unified information system in physical culture and sports.

Irkutsk Oblast has become one of the participants in the pilot project to introduce a sports passport. This is reported by the press service of the Governor and Government of Irkutsk Oblast, citing the regional Ministry of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy.
According to estimates by the Russian government, implementation of the “Sports Passport” project reduces the costs of government authorities for organizing information exchange by up to 25%, and nationwide budget savings will exceed 49 billion rubles.
Eight regions were selected to participate in the pilot projects “Information Technology on Indicators of the Development of Physical Culture and Sports in the Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation,” including the Republics of Sakha (Yakutia), Bashkortostan and Karelia, Sverdlovsk, Volgograd and Moscow oblasts, and Moscow. Thanks to the work of the regional Ministry of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy, Irkutsk Oblast was also included in this number.
The creation of the region’s “Sports Passport” is the first stage of the project to form a unified information system in the field of physical culture and sports. It will include departmental information resources – digital libraries, information banks, registers, classifiers, and reference books containing data necessary for carrying out the main functions of public administration and ensuring access to information.
