In Irkutsk from January 30 to February 28 applications are accepted from entrepreneurs working in innovation to take part in the 2013 contest. 2.2 million rubles are allocated for projects on the Innovation Alley, with funding through a public private partnership, 40 percent from the entrepreneur, 60 percent from the city. The contest lets new technologies be tested in the city and shown to residents and potential customers, including the administration. In two years 9 projects have already been implemented on the Innovation Alley, from energy saving lamps to interactive stops and vandal resistant benches.

From January 30 to February 28, the economic committee of the administration of the city of Irkutsk is accepting applications from entrepreneurs engaged in innovative activities to participate in the 2013 project. On a competitive basis, entrepreneurs may offer their developments to the city and its residents. The total amount of subsidies provided under this competition for 2013 is 2,200,000 rubles.
Budget funds may be used to reimburse part of the costs associated with performing work (providing services) in the implementation of innovative projects on the Innovation Alley. The competition is held to commercialize innovative technologies that are a priority for the city of Irkutsk. Project financing is carried out on the basis of a public-private partnership. 40% is paid by the entrepreneur, 60% by the city administration.
The head of the Department for Strategic Development and Investment Policy of the Irkutsk administration, Nikolai Potorochenko, noted: “The implementation of ready-made innovative technologies in small-scale form in an urban environment makes it possible to see and assess their quality, durability, resistance to various weather phenomena, to possible mechanical impacts in ‘street’ conditions, and more. At the same time, any city resident will be able to see the innovative technology in action, and interested consumers, including the City Administration, will be able to assess the quality of the product for the further formation of municipal orders.”
Over the course of two years, 9 projects worth 2,300,000 rubles have been implemented on the Alley. These include projects for installing energy-saving street lamps, colored bases on street poles, vandal-resistant benches, interactive bus stops, monolithic curbs, the use of rubber crumb from used car tires, and others.
