Irkutsk Region is among the regions hosting stages of the Global Management Challenge strategy and business management championship. After the second round of the online game, 16 strongest teams will be chosen to compete for the final in Irkutsk, and the winners will get a chance to advance first to the national tournament and then to the international one in Bucharest. Participants will face a unique business simulator that lets them try managing a company and make decisions in logistics, management, personnel, and finance.

As the minister noted, the Angara region has been included in the list of Russian constituent entities where regional stages of the championship cups of the Global Management Challenge business strategy and management competition are being held. The “Business Strategy and Management Championship” project received state support in October 2011 and was approved by the Supervisory Board of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI). The online game was launched in the region in November 2012. By the number of registered participating teams, Irkutsk Oblast ranks among the leading regions in Russia. After the second round of the interactive game is completed, 16 best teams will be formed (8 from universities and 8 from business organizations and government employees), which will take part in the final in Irkutsk.
– The holding of in-person regional cups is scheduled for the period from February 25 to mid-March. The winners of the final in Irkutsk in April of this year will take part in the all-Russian final of the championship in Moscow. The winners of the all-Russian final will advance to the international Global Management Challenge tournament, which will be held in Bucharest. Russian managers won the world tournaments in 2010 and 2012, – Ruslan Kim emphasized.

The tournament’s educational computer technology is based on a unique simulator that makes it possible to gain company management experience in just a few months. A team of five people must enter several dozen decisions into the program each week, on which the stock price of virtual companies on the market will depend. The tasks are related to logistics, management, personnel, and finance.
