The Irkutsk urban electric transport company reported a notable improvement in operations, average wages rose by 7.7 percent, and costs were cut by 25 million rubles thanks to energy saving measures.
The average salary of the enterprise’s employees increased by 7.7% compared with 2011 and is about 20 thousand rubles.Expenses of the enterprise were reduced by 25 million rubles. First of all, this was achieved by installing energy-saving lamps in trams and trolleybuses. In trams, electricity costs were reduced 20-fold, and in trolleybuses 9-fold. Also, in all trams, “thermal curtains” were installed above the entrance doors instead of electric heaters, which prevent cold air from entering the cabin. All tram cabins are equipped with temperature sensors, thanks to which an optimal temperature regime is maintained.
According to Andrey Makovetsky, work is underway at the enterprise to equip trolleybus cabins with alternative electrical equipment with lower power consumption.
“As a pilot project, we installed several electric heaters made in Perm in trolleybuses, but they did not pass the tests,” Andrey Makovetsky said. “Now we are mastering heating elements manufactured in Ulan-Ude. They produce as much heat as a 4 kW heater, while consuming only 1.5 kW of energy. During the summer, that is, by the next winter season, we must solve the heating problem in trolleybuses.”
The mayor noted that one of the enterprise’s achievements was an increase in net profit, whereas in 2011 the enterprise was unprofitable.
The director of the municipal unitary enterprise noted that last year unprecedented measures were taken at the enterprise to repair the rolling stock. 24 million rubles were allocated for the purchase of spare parts.
The city head and the director of the municipal unitary enterprise discussed the mechanism for implementing new requirements for public transport. Andrey Makovetsky said that a navigation system has already been installed on the city electric transport for several years. From the second half of February, all passengers of trams and trolleybuses will be insured.
Andrey Makovetsky emphasized that the enterprise’s stable operation, its development, and good economic performance in 2012 are the result of the excellent work of the entire workforce, and the conscientious attitude of the employees and management of the municipal unitary enterprise toward their duties.
