The youth festival StudZima 2013 has started in the Irkutsk region, bringing together 720 participants from several cities and 12 companies. Teams face three stages of intellectual, sports, creative, and social challenges, and only the 10 best will reach the final. Of special interest is the Good Deeds of StudZima contest, where participants develop social projects to help those in need.

Today, February 14, the opening of the regional youth festival “StudZima-2013” took place, in which 720 people from Irkutsk, Angarsk, Cheremkhovo, Tulun, and Nizhneudinsk are taking part. Teams were formed by higher and secondary specialized educational institutions, as well as 12 enterprises of the Irkutsk Region.
The festival consists of three stages, two of which are held in Irkutsk, and one in the village of Listvyanka. The first stage is being held today, during which the teams will take part in an intellectual quiz and the game “Day Watch.” At the same time, the jury is evaluating videos made by the participants in advance. Following the results of the first stage, only 32 teams will remain.
The second stage will take place on February 27-28 and will consist of sports, creative, and social venues. The third stage and the ceremonial closing will take place on March 5 in the village of Listvyanka. The final stage will feature 10 teams, which will compete for the title of winner.
As explained by Igor Ivanov, Minister of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Irkutsk Region, the tasks and challenges for festival participants are updated every year. “We update the tasks at all stages of the youth festival ‘StudZima’ every year. The only stage that has been preserved for nine years is the volunteer projects competition ‘Good Deeds of StudZima.’ In it, the guys develop social projects aimed at helping citizens in need,” the minister said.
The regional festival “StudZima” has been held since 2005 and becomes more and more popular among young people every year. Thus, if in 2005 there were only 50 participants, in 2011 there were 630, and last year there were about 700 participants. The main goals of the festival are to attract young people to study the history of the Irkutsk Region, to promote the development of the creative potential of the younger generation, and to attract young people to participate in sports events.
