At the Irkutsk zoo gallery they spoke about the tigress Saimira brought from Abakan. At first she did not want to leave the transport cage, but now she has settled in. An individual diet is being prepared for her, and the stay agreement is for a year for now. If repairs at the Abakan zoo are delayed, the term may be extended, and in the future the tigress may stay in Irkutsk.
Lyudmila Ivushkina, coordinator of the Irkutsk Zoo Gallery:— We built the enclosure for keeping tigers a long time ago. It turned out to be larger than the one at the Abakan zoo. When we brought Saymira and opened the transport cage, she resisted for a long time and did not want to come out. Now the tigress has settled in. The veterinarians are preparing an individual diet for her.
For now, the agreement for the Abakan Saymira’s stay has been signed for one year. If the Abakan zoo does not complete the renovation on time, the agreement will be extended for another year. According to Lyudmila Ivushkina, there is an option to leave the tigress in Irkutsk. This would require considerable funds, which the zoo gallery staff do not yet have.
