In Irkutsk, new photo and video cameras for recording accidents and monitoring street conditions will not be installed for now because of a lack of funds. The traffic police are already developing a placement plan and now instead of 30 cameras plan to choose first 4 to 5 of the citys most problematic spots. According to Sergei Panchenko, such devices will help reduce road accidents.
New photo and video cameras, which are supposed to record traffic accidents and the situation on the streets, will not be installed in Irkutsk for now.The reason is a lack of funds. This was announced today by the head of the city Traffic Police Department, Sergei Panchenko. He noted that work is currently underway to develop schemes for the placement of video cameras. Initially, it was planned to install at least 30 of them in the regional center. Now, however, it has been decided to identify 4 to 5 of the most problematic points in the city, where the cameras will be installed first.
Sergei Panchenko also noted that the development of schemes for the placement of video equipment is underway. The optical devices should appear, first of all, in the most accident-prone places. In Panchenko’s opinion, the cameras would help reduce the number of incidents on the roads.
