In Irkutsk, a month of sanitary cleanup was announced. Organizations, private citizens and active residents are urged to join. 690 parks and green areas, over 700 streets, bridges, crossings and cemeteries will be cleaned. The citywide cleanup day was moved to April 27 due to the cold spring, and during cleanup twice as much waste is usually taken to the landfill.
The municipality is responsible for cleaning 690 squares, parks and green areas, more than 700 city streets, as well as bridges and bridge crossings, and city cemeteries.“We traditionally appeal to all organizations, private individuals, and active city residents to take part in the cleanup month and go out to clean the areas adjacent to their homes and businesses, as well as the water protection zone, near bodies of water and reservoirs,” said Vladimir Chubuk, head of the Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety Department of the Irkutsk administration.
According to experts’ estimates, during the cleanup month, twice as much waste is delivered to the landfill.
The date of the citywide cleanup day this year has been moved to a later date. This is due to weather conditions — a fairly cold spring. All of Irkutsk will go out to clean the city on April 27.
