A new AIDS prevention and treatment center equipped with automated lab systems is being prepared to open in Irkutsk. It will shorten testing time, improve diagnosis, and provide full outpatient care.

The chief physician emphasized that automated laboratory complexes were purchased for the facility’s equipment, which make it possible to reduce the time needed to examine patients and eliminate the human factor and the possibility of errors during diagnostics. The institution provides a full range of outpatient and polyclinic medical care — in addition to infectious disease doctors, appointments will also be handled by an obstetrician-gynecologist, a phthisiatrician, an ophthalmologist, and an otolaryngologist. It is expected that the Center will receive at least 200 visits per shift.
The Governor noted that the completion of long-delayed construction projects in Irkutsk is a top priority for the Government of the Angara Region. Putting the new Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS into operation will allow patients to receive qualified medical care, and medical workers to work in comfortable conditions with modern equipment.
