Having carried out a set of operational-search measures and taken readings from the GSM security system with which the stolen car was equipped, detectives found the vehicle 300 kilometers from Irkutsk in the city of Baikalsk. At the moment of detention, a young man was behind the wheel of the car, who explained that a few days earlier he had purchased this vehicle from an unknown person in Irkutsk and had driven it to Baikalsk himself. At the same time, the driver had no documents for the vehicle, and the state registration plates, door locks, and ignition lock had been replaced with others. As it turned out, he drove the Honda to Baikalsk bypassing stationary traffic police posts across the ice of Lake Baikal.
At present, the suspect has been detained, and the degree of his guilt will be determined during the investigation that has begun. The stolen car has been returned to its lawful owner.
