In the Irkutsk region, they discussed tax breaks for socially oriented nonprofits. Such benefits now exist only for religious groups, and the lack of support affects the region's standing in federal programs and funding. Authorities are gathering data on NGOs in Irkutsk and the region.
“In the Irkutsk Region, tax benefits for non-profit organizations are represented in the form of property tax only for religious associations,” noted Nadezhda Skomarovskaya. “Although in Shelekhov there are land tax benefits for some non-profit organizations.”The absence of a system of preferential taxation for socially oriented non-profit organizations affects the Irkutsk Region’s ranking when participating in federal programs to support the non-profit sector and directly affects the amount of federal funds entering the budget of the Irkutsk Region. Nadezhda Skomarovskaya explained that the main problem in providing tax benefits for non-profit organizations is the lack of reliable information about the number of potential beneficiaries. Therefore, all interested parties will engage in collecting and analyzing information about the number of socially oriented non-profit organizations operating in Irkutsk and the Irkutsk Region. Based on the data obtained, an economic justification will be prepared, and socially oriented non-profit organizations will be able to count on tax benefits.
