In Irkutsk, the nationwide St. George ribbon campaign starts. From April 27 to 30, volunteers will hand out ribbons in squares, near universities, hotels and monuments, and the opening will be on April 30 at the square before the Trud Sports Palace. This year about 150 thousand ribbons are planned in the Irkutsk region, more than last year.
Pickets distributing St. George ribbons will operate on April 27 from 11:00 to 14:00 in Kirov Square, Veterans Square (by the monument to A.P. Beloborodov), at the central entrance to the Irkutsk State Linguistic University, and at the entrance to the Angara Hotel.On April 29, the pickets will operate from 12:00 to 15:00 in Kirov Square, by the bust of M. Gorky, in Veterans Square (by the monument to A.P. Beloborodov), as well as in the parking area in front of the entrance to the Angara Hotel, at the central entrance to the Irkutsk State Linguistic University, in the squares in front of the House of Consumer Services (8 Uritskogo St.), in front of the Irkutsk Hotel (44 Gagarin Boulevard), by the monument to Alexander III (Gagarin Boulevard), and by the monument to the Irkutsk Komsomol Tank.
On April 30, volunteers will hand out St. George ribbons from 14:00 to 17:00 in the square in front of the Trud Sports Palace and in the Trud Sports Palace square by the monument to V.I. Lenin.
As a reminder, in the Irkutsk Region, within the framework of the All-Russian St. George Ribbon campaign, about 150,000 ribbons are planned to be distributed. In 2012, 137,000 ribbons were distributed. The ceremonial opening of the campaign in Irkutsk will take place at 15:00 on April 30 in the square in front of the Trud Sports Palace.
