In summer, traveling film screenings will resume in Irkutsk. A mobile cinema unit will show comedies by Leonid Gaidai, documentaries, films by Irkutsk directors, and animated features in courtyards. The tradition, which has pleased residents since 2011, will continue this season with about 20 screenings. From June 1, the project Hooray, holidays begins. In school day camps, children will watch films and cartoons all summer.

During the three summer months, the mobile film unit of the regional film fund will show Irkutsk residents movies and cartoons: the lineup will include everyone’s favorite comedies by Leonid Gaidai, as well as films of other genres, documentary films from the archive of the East Siberian Newsreel Studio, the best works by Irkutsk directors dedicated to the city and its residents, as well as feature-length animated films.
-- Our traveling screenings are very popular with Irkutsk residents, -- says Andrey Salnikov, director of the Irkutsk Regional Film Fund. – People go out into their courtyards on summer evenings to watch good, kind films. Summer traveling film screenings have been delighting Irkutsk since 2011 and have already become traditional. This year we plan about 20 such screenings.
In addition, starting June 1, the regional film fund is launching another project – “Hooray, holidays!”, which will be carried out on the basis of Irkutsk schools where day camps are opening. Throughout the entire summer season, the mobile film unit will delight schoolchildren with screenings of children’s films and cartoons.
The project “Hooray, holidays!” is being held with the support of the Department of Education of the Irkutsk Region.
