In Irkutsk, a special concert for expectant mothers was held for the sixth time, organized by the regional philharmonic with the city administration and the perinatal center. The program featured works by Bach, Mussorgsky, Dunaevsky, Strauss, and arias from operas by Rimsky-Korsakov and Gounod. Organizers say this musical gift has become a good tradition and is held soon after Childrens Day.
«The wonderful idea of the Philharmonic musicians to hold such concerts has become a tradition for Irkutsk,” said Olga Aksamentova, head of the Department of Culture of the Irkutsk City Administration. “We always try to hold this concert almost immediately after Children’s Day; it is a musical gift for mothers and their future babies.”The regional philharmonic, together with the Irkutsk City Administration and the city perinatal center, is holding such a concert for the sixth time. Each year, the concert program changes. This time, works by Bach, Mussorgsky, Dunayevsky, Strauss, and arias from Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera The Tsar’s Bride and Charles Gounod’s opera Faust were performed.
