In Irkutsk region, the search continues for criminals who escaped from IK 19 on May 18. One fugitive was detained in Osinsky district thanks to public tips. Convicted murderer Yuri Prokhorov tried to hide under false names and even work as a shepherd. Tracks found in the taiga confirmed the fugitives may have split up. Searches involving FSIN, FSB, and police are in their fourth week, and police do not rule out that the criminals may still be in the forest near settlements and roads.

Law enforcement officers continue the search for the criminals who escaped on May 18 from Penal Colony No. 19 in the settlement of Markova in the Irkutsk District. The day before, one of the fugitives was detained in the Osinsky District of Irkutsk Region. He was identified thanks to citizens.
Convicted of murder, Yuri Prokhorov did not resist when he met with operatives. At the same time, he introduced himself to citizens and police under fictitious first and last names, but was identified by distinctive features. It was established that in the Osinsky District he had tried to get a job as a shepherd.
Thus, the previously put forward version that the convicts might have split up was confirmed.
In addition, police learned of so-called hideouts—places in the taiga where the four criminals hid for the first time. This is a forest area located several kilometers from the Ogonki station in the Shelekhov District. Traces of their presence were found there: remains of food and some belongings.
The complex of operational-search measures involving forces of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the FSB, and transport police has been continuing for the fourth week. During this time, dozens of calls from citizens have been processed, coming mainly from residents of the Shelekhov District. Earlier, more than a thousand employees were involved in a large-scale sweep of the area, as well as members of the public: representatives of the Cossacks, volunteer patrols, and volunteers.
Police do not rule out that the fugitives may still be in the forest, however, they are most likely to stay near populated areas and transport routes.
