In Irkutsk, despite funding being cut by almost half, road and bridge reconstruction continues. City officials inspected work on the bridge over the Ushakovka and on Baikalskaya Street, where contractors promise to finish on time despite recent weather difficulties and the relocation of trolleybus lines. The report also says which road sections are planned for repair next and how the authorities are allocating limited funds to the most problematic sites.

Funding has been cut in half, but the builders continue to work. Representatives of the city administration checked how the reconstruction of the highways in Irkutsk is progressing.
Representatives of the city administration are finding out every detail. The major overhaul of the bridge over the Ushakovka River is proceeding according to plan, although not long ago there were difficulties - due to the muddy roads, timber for construction could not be delivered to the regional center. Now, says the contractor, the problems have been resolved.
The wooden bridge will be covered with asphalt, but the builders promise that there will be no potholes like before. The beams are joined tightly together - on the old bridge there was a considerable distance between the beams. Because of this, the road surface deteriorated. The second inspection site is Baikalskaya Street. Tonight, a new lane in the direction of the hydroelectric dam was supposed to be opened for traffic here, but due to bad weather they were unable to move the trolleybus contact lines. However, the contractors assured that passage will be provided tomorrow. Work on Baikalskaya is also on schedule. Another 75 million rubles remain to be spent. In addition, the officials’ plans for this year include a major overhaul of the road surface on Partizanskaya Street - from Trilissera to 1st Sovetskaya - and Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street. Funds for this are provided in the city treasury.
- In addition, well, these are already federal funds, it is planned to begin work on the reconstruction of 3rd of July Street, i.e. this year we plan to open traffic in the downstream direction of the new bridge, so we will prepare 3rd of July Street already for permanent traffic, - says Irkutsk Deputy Mayor Nikolai Khitsenko.
This year, almost half as much money was allocated from the budget of the regional center for road repairs as had been planned, says Nikolai Khitsenko. Therefore, the funds were directed to the repair of truly problematic sections.
