Irkutsk police rewarded two transport workers for helping detain offenders and save a child. Taxi driver Denis Strombsky found a lost 4 year old boy at night and took him to police, and bus driver Alexey Davidenko handed over a suspect who stabbed a girl. The police say honoring citizens who help has become a good tradition.

The leadership of the Irkutsk police honored two workers in the transport system. They were presented with letters of appreciation and valuable gifts.
Denis Strombsky is an employee of one of Irkutsk’s taxi services. On June 20, around 4 a.m., he was on a job when he saw a lost 4-year-old child on the roadway. The taxi driver took the boy to the nearest police station. A few hours later, the child’s mother contacted the internal affairs authorities to report him missing.
Alexey Davidenko, a route bus driver who witnessed a crime, was also awarded a certificate of appreciation. At a public transport stop, a young man stabbed a girl with a knife and tried to flee on the minibus where Alexey works. The bus driver also handed the suspect over to law enforcement officers.
Honoring citizens who have assisted police officers, as well as those who have shown an active civic stance, has become a good tradition in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Irkutsk. Thus, last week the Leontev twin brothers were honored for detaining a street robber in the act.
