In Irkutsk Region, a working group will assess the implementation of the subprogram for developing adaptive physical culture and sports for people with disabilities and prepare major changes. Focus is on mass sports, regional competitions, and a possible Adaptive Sports Center.

The goal of the working group is to assess the implementation of the subprogram “Development of Adaptive Physical Culture and Sports for Disabled People of the Irkutsk Region for 2012-2015” and to prepare substantial changes. A key point in the subprogram should be the development of mass sports for people with limited physical abilities and the creation of a comfortable environment in the region for disabled people to engage in sports.
At the first meeting of the working group, issues related to the holding of regional sports festivals and other mass sporting events for people with limited physical abilities will be discussed. In addition, the regional ministry is ready to work out the issue of creating an Adaptive Sports Center.
At the meeting of the Council on the Development of Adaptive Sports in the Irkutsk Region, representatives of public organizations made specific proposals for changes to the subprogram for the development of adaptive sports. In particular, it was proposed to include a section on elite sports in it, increase the number of mass sporting events, and provide for training seminars for specialists in the regional system on organizing physical culture, health, and mass sports work with disabled people in municipal entities.
