Today, the acceptance of documents for participation in the elections of deputies to the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region is being completed at the election commissions of the city of Irkutsk. On August 2, the election commissions will compile a list of registered candidates who will take part in the election race. In the five single-mandate districts of Irkutsk, 67 people have nominated themselves, including 17 self-nominated candidates. Another 15 candidates were nominated by 15 party associations, among which there are both parliamentary parties (“United Russia,” the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, “A Just Russia,” LDPR) and 13 parties that did not win the required number of votes in the State Duma elections (for example, “Right Cause” and “Yabloko”).
Also represented in Irkutsk are such party associations as “Civil Platform,” “Democratic Choice,” “Patriots of Russia,” “Communists of Russia,” “Rodina,” “Party for Justice,” “Alliance of Greens – People’s Party,” “Russian Ecological Party ‘The Greens’,” the political party “Smart Russia,” “Republican Party of Russia - Party of People’s Freedom,” and “Russian All-People’s Union.”
Control and audit services established under the election commissions have sent requests for all candidates to verify the accuracy of the information they provided to the regional departments of the Federal Migration Service, the Federal Tax Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. The decisive stage of submitting all documents and registering candidates is approaching, after which the commissions will begin work on forming the ballots. The committees for the administration of Irkutsk’s administrative districts are resolving issues of organizational and technical support and preparing premises for the work of election commissions at polling stations.
