Yesterday around midnight on Bauman Street in Irkutsk, the attention of a patrol from the private security department was drawn to a VAZ-2101 car whose driver was grossly violating traffic rules.Ignoring the police officers’ demands, the driver attempted to flee and stopped only on the Novo-Lenino bypass road. When the police sergeant approached the car and asked the young men to leave the vehicle, a pistol of unidentified make appeared in the hands of one of them. Drawing his service weapon, the police officer repeated his demand and warned that if they disobeyed, he would be forced to use it. When the driver attempted to run into the officer, the officer fired at the car’s front wheel. With the tire punctured, the car drove a few more meters and stopped.
The police detained the driver and three passengers, who turned out to be teenagers aged 15 to 17. Two of them had previously been charged with robbery, theft, and car theft, and are also registered with the juvenile affairs unit. In addition, the underage driver could not have had a driver’s license and was allegedly under the influence of drugs — this will be determined by an examination.
During the inspection of the car, an air pistol, a baseball bat, as well as a plastic bag allegedly containing a plant-based drug were found, which has now been sent for examination to the Forensic Center of the Regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
