The city opened a traveling exhibition Armor and weapons reconstruction and stylization, touring Russia since 2012. Visitors will see about 160 exact copies and reconstructions of armor and weapons from the 10th to 16th centuries from Rus, Scandinavia, Europe, Mongolia and India, including mirror armor and a Scandinavian Carolingian sword. The interactive format makes history especially engaging, and the exhibition runs until August 25.
The exhibition is traveling and has been on display in cities across Russia since 2012. Most of the exhibits were brought from Ivanovo, the Novokuznetsk Local History Museum, and were also acquired from reenactors in Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Republic of Khakassia, and Ukraine. The exhibition features about 160 exhibits — exact copies and reconstructions of armor and weapons from the 10th-16th centuries of Rus, Scandinavia, Europe, Mongolia, and India. The exhibits have been recreated on the basis of archaeological, visual, and ethnographic sources. Among the most interesting are a reconstruction of mirror armor, used from the 13th to the 16th centuries in Rus and the East, a Scandinavian Carolingian-type sword from the 6th-8th centuries, and others.
The interactive format of the exhibition makes it possible to make the perception of history more effective. The exhibition "Armor and Weapons (Reconstruction and Stylization)" will run until August 25.
