Scientists from the US, France and Britain warn that climate change on Earth has already become inevitable, and carbon dioxide has reached a dangerous level. The article describes the consequences awaiting the planet, from desert expansion and lower harvests to the disappearance of mountain glaciers, and why experts say the main response must be a deep overhaul of energy. Russian specialists also confirm the alarming forecasts and expect more dangerous weather, water and food shortages.

Ecologists have long been sounding the alarm about the unfavorable environmental situation in the world, while everyone else, meanwhile, ignores the disappointing forecasts, filling their pockets with money by burning oil and gas and releasing huge amounts of toxic waste into the atmosphere and rivers. And now we have really gone too far! It has happened!
A disappointing forecast regarding the future of the Earth was published by researchers from the United States, France, and Great Britain.
Climate change on Earth is inevitable, since carbon dioxide has already reached a dangerous concentration. The point of no return has been passed, and humanity will inevitably face the expansion of deserts, declining harvests, the disappearance of mountain glaciers that provide water to hundreds of millions of people, and other natural disasters, scientists believe.
James Hansen, the author of the study from Columbia University, states that humanity still has the power to reduce the extent of the consequences of climate change.
- To halt global warming, the concentration of carbon dioxide must be reduced to 350 parts per million. Right now its level is 385 parts per million and is increasing by 2 parts per million per year. The main causes are the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. “It is obvious that today the main factor affecting the climate is industrial civilization. Ignorance and denial in this situation have made tragic consequences inevitable,” the researchers write.
Russian experts also agree with these conclusions. Alexey Kokorin, head of the “Climate and Energy” program at WWF Russia, citing forecasts from Roshydromet, stated that the number of dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena in Russia will double within the next ten years.
According to Alexey Kokorin, climate change will affect the shortage of fresh water, food shortages, and the increase in various diseases.
The main strategy in the fight for a favorable climate should be not so much forest restoration and other measures directly related to ecology, but a fundamental transformation of the energy sector, the experts believe.
