In Irkutsk region, an inmate got a previously blocked SIM card through a relative and used the still active Mobile Bank service to transfer nearly 80 thousand rubles to acquaintances accounts. Despite trying to hide traces, police identified him and seized the main evidence, a mobile phone. A theft case is now under investigation, and his actions may also be classified as unlawful access to computer information.

It has been established that, in violation of the rules of detention, he received from a relative a SIM card that had been blocked shortly before by the previous owner and reissued by the mobile operator. At the same time, the former owner did not take steps to block the “Mobile Bank” service, which made it possible to commit unlawful acts. The convict had not only a means of communication, but also the ability to dispose of another person’s savings. Without having his own account, in a short time he transferred almost 80 thousand rubles to the accounts of his acquaintances, including other convicts. However, despite the secrecy, he was identified and the main piece of evidence of the unlawful acts was seized – the mobile phone.
At present, a criminal case is being investigated in connection with this fact, which was initiated under Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “Theft.” It is possible that the actions of the suspect will also be classified under Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “Unlawful Access to Computer Information.”
Until this moment, the man sentenced to 10 years did not rule out the possibility of parole.
