On September 20, a meeting of the artistic council was held, dedicated to the creation of the monument. By mayoral decree, the composition of the working group was approved. It included representatives of the Irkutsk administration, Honorary Citizens of the city, and members of the city artistic council.
The initiators of the creation of the monument were the Honorary Citizens of the city of Irkutsk.
As Honorary Citizen of the city Yuri Shkuropat noted, the idea of creating the monument has been in the air in the city for many years, and it is long past time to begin implementing it. To do this, it is necessary not only to work on the design, but also to choose a site where the monument will be installed, hold a competition for the best sculpture, and determine funding. It is possible that funds for the creation of the monument will be collected among city residents.
As the organizers plan, a competition for the idea of creating the monument will be announced in the near future, and the timing of its installation will be determined.
