The marathon will take place in 4 stages. In the first stage, public organizations choose an orphanage and prepare a plan of activities that they will carry out for the children in this residential institution. During the second stage (from October 14 to November 14, 2013), the announced activities are held, and information is collected about the gifts the children would like to receive for the New Year. The third stage includes the so-called processing of the children’s wishes and the search for sponsors to purchase the gifts. From December 14 to 20, which is the time of the fourth stage, participants in the charity marathon will present gifts to the children. It is worth noting that such a marathon is being held in Irkutsk for the first time. Its organizers, the Irkutsk City Administration and the East Siberian State Academy of Education, hope that it will draw people’s attention to the problems of orphanhood. Applications to participate in the marathon from volunteers, initiative groups, and public organizations are being accepted until October 14. To date, 7 applications have already been received from public organizations.
