In Irkutsk, a new 30x60 meter sports court was built for 5.2 million rubles on 4th Zheleznodorozhnaya Street. It combines two basketball courts and is suitable for soccer and hockey, and in winter hockey competitions will again be held here and ice will be laid for the Mayor Cup among yard teams. This is already the third yard court commissioned in the city this year, and along with it Irkutsk continues a major upgrade of sports grounds in schools and yards.
The city budget allocated 5.2 million rubles for the construction of a sports facility measuring 30x60 meters. The court consists of two basketball courts combined into a single space where soccer and hockey can be played. Recall that the sports facility on 4th Zheleznodorozhnaya Street became the third courtyard court put into operation this year by the Municipal Unitary Enterprise “City Capital Construction Department of Irkutsk.”This court has always been used for hockey competitions, and after reconstruction the tradition will continue. Once a stable snow cover appears, the court will be flooded with ice and will become one of the main venues for the Mayor’s Cup in hockey among courtyard teams.
In addition to the three courtyard courts, sports facilities were equipped this year at four Irkutsk schools using the city budget: the courts at Schools No. 5, 17, and 53 have already been put into operation, and the renovation of the sports court on the grounds of School No. 11 is nearing completion. Four more sports facilities will be installed by the end of the year under the corporate program “Gazprom for Children”: the courts are located in the Solnechny microdistrict and on Telmana Street, as well as on the grounds of Schools No. 39 and 16.
