Residents of Irkutsk entitled to social support will be the first to receive free transport cards. Later the project will expand to other settlements in the region and other public transport. The new system will simplify benefit verification, documents will be needed only when applying for the card, then only the card and ID will be enough.
The transport card will be received free of charge first by residents of the city of Irkutsk who receive social support measures. In subsequent stages, the transport card will be introduced in other localities of the region, and this service will also be available on other types of public transport. At present, transport cards are issued to 13 categories of federal-level beneficiaries. The minister explained that when using the cards, documents confirming the right to receive social support measures are provided once — when the transport card is issued; thereafter, when purchasing single-ride tickets, as well as during inspections on the electric train, it will be enough to present the card and an identity document. In total, 445,166 people live in the Angara region who are entitled to federal and regional benefits.
