In Irkutsk, ISU kindergarten opened with support from legislator Alexey Krasnoshtanov and the city administration. The 2011 project equipped 406 sq. m and welcomed 16 children, mostly students and teachers children.

Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region Alexey Krasnoshtanov, who helped finance the project, came to the opening. He noted that such projects need to be supported, as they create more comfortable conditions for the city’s residents. On behalf of himself and the city mayor, he presented the IGU kindergarten with a music center.
As the chairman of the IGU students’ trade union committee, Alexander Manzula, said, the project started in 2011. The IGU administration provided the students’ trade union committee with an unused premises in building No. 4b in the Universitetsky microdistrict, with a total area of 406 sq. m.
In 2012, after preliminary approvals from Rospotrebnadzor and the State Fire Supervision Service, the students’ trade union committee began preparing the cost estimates.
By September 1, the renovation, which was partly carried out by IGU students, had been completed. At present, the Center employs a manager, three teachers, and one teacher’s assistant. The Center, designed for 30 children aged 1.5 to 5 years, is attended by 16 children, 13 of whom are children of IGU students and faculty members.
As Viktor Kondrashov noted, the city administration not only builds municipal kindergartens (this year, 3 kindergartens have opened, and the 4th in the Yubileyny microdistrict will open at the end of December), but also supports other alternative forms of preschool institutions. Thus, the city administration provides individual entrepreneurs who have organized child care and supervision groups with non-residential premises at a preferential rental rate and subsidies from the municipal budget to support and develop this social business.
