In Irkutsk, holiday festivities began at the main city Christmas tree. At 6 p.m. an entertainment program started, and Mayor Viktor Kondrashov congratulated residents on the coming New Year. The opening was marked with a colorful fireworks display and a concert by the citys creative groups. The celebration will continue with a series of games, New Years Eve, and Christmas festivities in the square.

The festive celebrations near the city’s main tree will continue. From January 27 to 29 and from January 3 to 6, from 13:00 to 16:00, residents of Irkutsk will be able to attend the daily game program “This Is What the City Tree Is Like.” And on the night of December 31 to January 1 (from 23:00 to 01:00), Irkutsk residents will be treated to the festive program “We Welcome the New Year.” On January 7, Christmas celebrations will take place in the square from 13:00 to 16:00.
