In Irkutsk, the Mother and Child reproductive medicine center has opened and has begun seeing its first patients, offering help to infertile couples. The clinic will provide IVF, ICSI, intrauterine insemination, cryopreservation, surrogacy, and genetic testing, and later plans to open surgical gynecology and pediatric services.

In Irkutsk, an event important for many Irkutsk families took place: the “Mother and Child” reproductive medicine center opened.
According to statistics, about 20% of married couples in our region have problems conceiving children. Therefore, the opening of a center providing assistance in overcoming infertility became a necessity.
The clinic received its first patients on January 26, and on Saturday, January 24, its grand opening took place, attended by the Governor of the Irkutsk Region, Igor Esipovsky. “The solution of the population’s reproductive health problems is very relevant now, since in the conditions of the economic crisis it is important to prevent a demographic decline like the one we observed after the events of 1998,” he said.
– The Irkutsk clinic “Mother and Child” is part of the nationwide network of IVF clinics of the “Mother and Child” group of companies, – said the chief physician of the institution, obstetrician-gynecologist of the highest category, Candidate of Medical Sciences Dmitry Gorbatenko. – There are already six such clinics in Moscow, there is one in Kyiv, and today we are opening it in Irkutsk. The IVF department is only the first stage in the work of our institution. In the near future, we plan to open a one-day surgical gynecology department, which will be located on the first floor of this same building. One-day surgical gynecology is a global trend in medicine. With the use of modern technologies, there is no longer a need for prolonged hospitalization of women. Such an approach is beneficial both for the patients themselves and for the medical institution. We also plan to open a pediatric service on the basis of the clinic.
Today the clinic offers patients initial consultation and examination of married couples with infertility, treatment of all forms of male and female infertility, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), ICSI, intrauterine insemination, programs for cryopreservation of sperm and embryos, surrogacy, egg and sperm donation, and preimplantation genetic diagnosis of hereditary diseases is carried out, which is extremely important for the prevention of congenital pathology in newborns.
There is already a regional perinatal center in Irkutsk that performs similar functions. About one hundred patients undergo examination and treatment at this center free of charge, the rest — on a paid basis. But this is not enough.
“We fully understand that the quality of services is born only in a competitive environment. It is precisely the creation, even if for now of not a very large number of such centers, that will allow us to improve the quality of service,” Igor Esipovsky noted, according to the press service of the Governor and Government of the Irkutsk Region
The “Mother and Child” clinic is located in the building of the former children’s railway polyclinic. The specialists’ working hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., including weekends. The cost of services starts at 450 rubles for a consultation. The cost of the IVF procedure is within 120,000 rubles per attempt. This is comparable to the rates of the 86 IVF centers that exist in the Russian Federation.
