In Irkutsk Region, the Traveling Editorial project helps schoolchildren and young correspondents try journalism. They attend seminars, trainings and workshops on making videos, choosing topics and creating catchy headlines. More than 200 children from across Priangarya have shown their talents, and in Kuytun District a festival of school print publications was held with the project’s support. Ahead is a new festival that will bring together schoolchildren from across the region.
«As part of the project, our organization is actively working to popularize the profession of journalist among children's creative associations in the Irkutsk Region. Our goal is to give children from various parts of the Angara region the opportunity to reveal their talents in this exciting creative activity," noted project coordinator Tatyana Tikhonova. The “Field Editorial Office” project includes off-site seminars, trainings, and master classes for young correspondents from the region’s creative associations. During these events, the children are taught how to create videos, choose topics for publications, and come up with original headlines. For example, specialists from the Children's Information League held a series of such meetings with children from Baikalsk, the settlement of Belorechenskoye in the Usolsky District, and at the Angasolka children's health camp in the Slyudyansky District. In total, during the implementation of the project, more than 200 children were able to try themselves in journalism.
In addition, within the framework of the project, assistance was provided in holding the third festival of school print publications of the Kuytunsky District, in which 29 young correspondents took part. In February 2014, it is planned to hold a festival of print publications in Kuytun, where schoolchildren from all over the Irkutsk Region will gather.
