In Irkutsk, a court sent into custody a suspect in illegal cashing out of large sums through a network of shell firms. According to investigators, about 40 fake companies may have handled money for kickbacks, bribes, tax evasion, and worker payments, and the scheme's total turnover exceeded half a billion rubles. During searches, forged payment and registration documents, seals, and other evidence were seized, and the arrest of his accomplice still has to be considered.

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Irkutsk, at the request of an investigator from the Main Investigative Directorate of the regional Interior Ministry, imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention on a suspect in the illegal cashing of large sums of money. The issue of arresting his accomplice will be considered in the near future.
On January 27, officers of the economic security department of the regional Main Directorate stopped the activities of an organization engaged in the production of forged payment documents.
According to the Main Investigative Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry, the operators registered about 40 shell companies in the names of straw men, through which funds intended for kickbacks, bribes, and other financial frauds were cashed out. It is known that some major construction companies in the region used their services to conceal their income, evade taxation, and settle accounts with migrant workers hired to construct real estate projects. Investigators already have information about 52 such and other organizations.
The investigation has information that over the course of its existence the group received at least 50 million rubles in illegal profit, and the financial turnover of the enterprises that existed only on paper exceeded half a billion rubles.
To detain one of the organizers, special forces had to use special means to break down the apartment door. At that moment, the suspect was trying to burn incriminating documents on an electric stove. Timely intervention by law enforcement officers made it possible to preserve the bulk of the evidence. During searches of the apartments of the unscrupulous businessmen, a large number of forged payment and registration documents, as well as seals of shell organizations, were seized.
A criminal case has been opened in connection with this incident under Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Manufacturing or sale of counterfeit credit or payment cards and other payment documents). The article provides for a penalty of up to 7 years in prison. This is already the second criminal case initiated by the Main Investigative Directorate over the past month and a half.
