A criminal case has been opened for illegal transport of drugs, and the detainee faces up to five years in prison.
During an inspection at the stationary traffic police post “Nizhny” at the city entrance, police found a package containing a substance of plant origin, presumably marijuana, in the car of a 28-year-old resident of the regional center. The man took another plastic-wrapped bundle from inside his clothing during a personal search.The suspect — a cook at one of the food service establishments — explained that he had allegedly been transporting the herb for his own use. The narcotic substance, with a total weight of more than 3 kilograms, was seized and sent for examination.
A criminal case has been opened over the incident under Article 228 (Illegal transportation of narcotic drugs). The detainee could face up to five years in prison.
Since the beginning of the year, police in the regional center have seized more than 23 kilograms of narcotic drugs.
