In Irkutsk, new Russian-made TROLZA Megapolis trolleybuses have entered service, offering greater comfort, warmth, and safety. They have ramps for passengers with limited mobility, electronic displays, and a modern traction motor that saves up to 30 percent of electricity. Some are already on routes 3 and 8, and later the new vehicles will be distributed across the city network.

“The difference of these trolleybuses is not only external and in their increased comfort,” explained the director of the MUP “IGET,” Andrey Makovetsky. “First of all, they are very warm: each one is equipped with four heaters, which will allow our passengers and drivers not to freeze on the way. The needs of people with limited mobility have also been taken into account: all new trolleybuses are equipped with ramps for wheelchair users. In addition, this rolling stock is equipped with an electronically controlled AC traction motor, which makes it possible to save up to 30% of electricity.”
The trolleybuses are equipped with ABS (anti-lock braking system) and an automatic fire extinguishing system. All this has a positive effect on the fire safety of the rolling stock and the safety of passenger transportation as a whole. Electronic information displays are installed in the cabins.
“The new trolleybuses are TROLZA ‘Megapolis’ brand vehicles of Russian manufacture from the city of Engels. They are modern and meet all safety requirements. Every year we will renew the public transport fleet by purchasing good-quality equipment. In this way, the share of municipal enterprises in the transportation market in the city of Irkutsk will increase and expand,” said Acting Head of the Irkutsk Administration Anton Logashov.
The IGET fleet currently has 81 vehicles, including 8 new trolleybuses. By the way, one similar trolleybus has already been running on the roads of Irkutsk for three years and has proven itself only on the positive side. Before this, the trolleybus depot fleet was updated about five years ago. Due to the arrival of the new equipment, two old trolleybuses will be written off. They will be replaced by new vehicles. As early as today, they have gone out on routes No. 3 and 8, and in the future they will be distributed across the entire route network.
