Irkutsk deputies discussed how schoolchildren safety is ensured in city schools. At night all 72 schools are guarded by watchmen, by day 34 have private security firms, 38 have attendants.
The issue of ensuring the safety of students in Irkutsk schools was considered by deputies at a commission on municipal legislation and law and order.All 72 general education institutions in the city have night watchmen who guard them at night. During the day, under contract and at the expense of parents’ funds, private security companies monitor safety in 34 schools. In 38 schools there are reception desk attendants. Last year, perimeter fencing was installed around the grounds of 15 schools at the city budget’s expense. 51.8 million rubles were allocated for these purposes. Thanks to savings from tenders amounting to 20.4 million rubles, fencing was installed on the grounds of 9 more institutions. Also in 2013, under the targeted program “Safe City for 2013-2017,” 8 schools and 4 kindergartens were equipped with video surveillance systems. Thus, as of today, 44 schools are equipped with video surveillance systems.
In 2014, the installation of similar systems is planned at 14 more educational facilities.
