At the Baikal 2020 camp, 700 young people from Russia and abroad are planned to gather, including delegations from Mongolia and China. This year the program will add two new tracks, Mass Sports Development and Civic Position, where participants and experts will discuss current initiatives, patriotic education, and youth project development. The best social and economic ideas will receive grants for implementation.

It is planned that 700 young people aged 18 to 30 will take part in the camp in eight areas: “Leadership. Youth and Politics,” “Volunteering,” “Business,” “Tourism,” “Leadership and Development of Interethnic Relations,” “Science and Innovation,” “Civic Engagement,” and “Development of Mass Sports” from regions of Russia and foreign countries. There is a preliminary agreement on the participation in the camp of delegations from Mongolia and China.
This year, two new areas are planned for “Baikal-2020” — “Development of Mass Sports” and “Civic Engagement.” Participants in the “Development of Mass Sports” area will include young physical education teachers, coaches of youth sports schools, heads of youth sports organizations, and students of sports educational institutions. Experts in this area will include representatives of sports organizations and federations from the regions of the Siberian Federal District, curators of the federal project “Run After Me,” representatives of the Ministry of Sports of Russia, and well-known athletes.
Participants in the “Civic Engagement” area will include leaders and members of patriotic organizations and clubs, search movements, and young people interested in history and local studies. Experts in this area will include leaders of leading patriotic organizations of the Irkutsk Region and Russia, representatives of science, researchers, and travelers.
The “Civic Engagement” area will become an effective platform for developing specific proposals to improve the system of patriotic education and to form “points of pride” for one’s homeland. Youth projects will also be aimed at organizing events and campaigns dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
As a result of the camp’s work, participants will develop socio-economic projects aimed at the development of the region and the country as a whole. The best projects will receive grants for implementation.
