In Irkutsk, police are investigating a series of daytime apartment burglaries committed while the owners were at work or school. Investigators say the intruders most often entered by picking the front door locks, and in one case the damage totaled 400 thousand rubles. The agency also reminds people of the most reliable way to protect property, installing an alarm system.

A 54-year-old woman contacted Police Department No. 3 with a theft report, saying that when she returned from work, she found the front door to her home broken into. The criminals stole gold items, power tools, and a rifle. The homeowner estimated the damage at 400,000 rubles.
Within an hour, another report came in about a similar crime committed in a house on Marshal Zhukov Avenue. This time, the victim had a large sum of money in foreign currency stolen, as well as fur items.
It has been established that in most cases the “burglars” entered the apartments by picking the locks on the front doors. The thefts were committed mainly from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., when the owners were at work or studying. Criminal cases have now been opened in all registered incidents. The offenders are being sought.
The police remind the public that today the most reliable way to prevent property crimes is to install a security alarm system. By signing a contract with the non-departmental security service, you can be calm about your property, because from that moment on, the non-departmental security unit will bear full financial responsibility for it.
If you discover that intruders have been in your home, do not enter the rooms and wait for the investigative task force to arrive.
