The Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Irkutsk Region will hold a hotline on fighting gray wages and legalizing hidden income. Residents will be told why illegal payments are dangerous. They affect sick pay, tax deductions, the ability to get a mortgage, loan, or visa, and future pension. All appeals will be reviewed and explanations given on identifying illegal pay and responsibility for it.

Recall that the instruction to intensify work on legalizing hidden wages was given to the Ministry of Labor and Employment by the Governor of the Irkutsk Region, Sergey Eroshchenko, as part of his Address to the Legislative Assembly.
Natalia Vorontsova notes: "The so-called ‘gray’ wage leads to problems not only in the distant future, when the employee retires; the negative consequences can be felt today. The amount of official wages determines the payment of sick leave, the amount of tax deductions when purchasing an apartment or spending on children’s education. The ‘shadow’ wage deprives the employee of access to a mortgage and other consumer loans, and of the ability to obtain a visa for travel abroad. The streamlining of labor relations should, on the one hand, form an effective labor market capable of ensuring economic growth. On the other hand, it should be aimed at increasing the level of registered employment, normalizing production and social working conditions, and ensuring wage growth in the Irkutsk Region in line with labor productivity growth."
Everyone who gets through on the hotline will be provided with explanations and recommendations regarding the measures being taken to combat the legalization of hidden wages, as well as on issues of establishing and proving facts of wage payments made illegally, and on liability for receiving illegal wages. All appeals will be reviewed by the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Irkutsk Region in accordance with current legislation.
