In Irkutsk, the third stage of the Remember Me campaign begins. Photos of veterans and participants in the Great Patriotic War are accepted at city libraries, a special point, and the project website. Acceptance lasts until May 20, then the photos will be processed and placed on stands, to open on June 21. At the same time, the Veteran Lives Nearby campaign continues, in which young people are ready to congratulate front line veterans and help them at home, and residents are asked to report veterans by phone 62-00-70.
As the director of the municipal institution “Holiday,” Mikhail Zubkov, said, due to the undiminished interest of city residents and residents of the region in the “Remember Me” campaign, it has been decided to hold its third round. Photographs of veterans and participants in the Great Patriotic War can, as before, be brought to 18 libraries in the city. Specifically for the duration of the third round of the campaign, the main reception point for photographs and information about veterans will operate in the Committee for Social Policy and Culture. Volunteers will accept and scan photographs from 10:00 to 17:00 at the address: 40 Gorky Street, office 25. You can also send a photograph yourself electronically by visiting the project website - pomni-irk.ru – and filling out a simple form in the “send photo” section. Photographs will be accepted until May 20, after which their technical processing and placement on the stands will begin. The opening of the stands is scheduled for June 21.The goal of another campaign, “A Veteran Lives Nearby,” is to draw attention to front-line soldiers and home front workers. According to the head of the youth policy department, Alexander Shapochkin, young people are ready to visit veterans and congratulate them on the Great Victory holiday, and if necessary, also help with cleaning the apartment, buying groceries, etc. “The problem is that we do not always know where veterans live,” says Alexander Shapochkin. “Therefore, we are asking all Irkutsk residents: if you know that a veteran lives near you, please let us know by phone 62-00-70.” The same phone number can also be used to get answers to questions about the “Remember Me” campaign.
According to the city Council of Veterans (Pensioners) of War, Labor, the Armed Forces, and Law Enforcement Agencies, as of March 25, 933 front-line soldiers and just over 42,000 home front workers live in Irkutsk.
