In Irkutsk, the next stage of repairs to the overpass built in 1965 will begin. The contractor will renew the roadway, joints and approaches, and the total cost will be 60 million rubles. The repairs will be carried out in stages from April to September, with traffic on the bridge temporarily restricted in different lanes. Authorities stress that the structure is extremely important for the city, so the work will be organized to minimize traffic jams.
The overpass, built in 1965, underwent reconstruction for the first time in 2012. And last year, the sidewalks were repaired, barrier railings and lighting were replaced. At that time, these works cost the city budget almost 30 million rubles. The next stage is the repair of the bridge roadway with the replacement of all structural layers, as well as the repair of the joints and approaches. The total cost of the work will amount to 60 million rubles.Repair work will be carried out in several stages. From April 9 to May 31, traffic will be restricted in the right lane of the roadway toward Novo-Lenino; from June 1 to July 15, in the middle of the roadway; and from July 16 to September 1, on the left side of the bridge. In addition, the contractor explains that there are certain technological processes that cannot be violated. For example, the concrete needs time to set and gain strength.
“The contractor promises to complete the repair by September of this year. This bridge is an extremely important transport artery of the city. Therefore, it is necessary to organize the work so that Irkutsk residents do not get stuck here in major traffic jams. It is clear that due to the complexity of the facility there will be difficulties on the road, but people should understand this with patience. All work will be carried out under the supervision of the deputy corps,” said Duma Speaker Alexander Khankhalaev.
