Participants will have seven checkpoints, a seven member jury, a seven point rating system and seven categories, and the winners will be awarded right after the celebration ends. «This year City Day will take place on June 7, so the carnival will also be dedicated to this number,” said Olga Aksamentova, head of the culture department of the Irkutsk city administration. “Many fairy tales, proverbs, and sayings are associated with this number; everyone knows the 7 wonders of the world, the 7 colors of the rainbow, and so on. I believe it will not be difficult for carnival participants to come up with how to use the ‘seven’ in the style of their column.»The carnival is coordinated by the municipal autonomous institution “Holiday.” Applications will be accepted until April 30. As in last year, participation in the carnival procession is free of charge. In this regard, the organizers impose restrictions on the use of advertising brands.
As in last year, the carnival procession will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. from 3 July Street to Chkalov Street. Near the building at 14B Lenin Street there will be a jury consisting of 7 people. According to Mikhail Zubkov, director of the municipal institution “Holiday,” there will be 7 checkpoints along the route of the columns, where participants will have to present a mini-performance to the audience. The columns will be evaluated on a 7-point scale and in seven categories. The awards ceremony for the winners will take place immediately after the carnival ends. Mister and Miss Carnival will also be chosen.
