Kyle Walters, owner of the Texas Elliott's Hardware chain, unusually invited former US president George Bush to work by placing an ad in a newspaper. Bush responded humorously and even came to the store, but declined the job because he plans to write a book about his presidency. The story drew much attention and new customers to the store, which Walters was very pleased with.

The owner of the Texas Elliott‘s Hardware store chain, Kyle Walters, placed an advertisement in the newspaper offering a job to former U.S. President George Bush.
“We are confident that your experience working in a family business, as well as the skills acquired through dealing with representatives of foreign states, make you an excellent candidate for this position,” the ad said.
The former president has a sense of humor: some time later, he appeared at the doorstep of one of the Elliott‘s stores and, entering the sales floor accompanied by security, said: “I’m looking for a job.”
The store owner told Bush in detail about the vacancy, noting that the new job would seem less stressful to him than his previous one, and also promised him the chance to meet interesting people. Among other bonuses, Bush was offered a parking space for the former president’s security detail and a permanent discount on the goods sold in the store.
Bush declined the offer. In the near future, Bush Jr. plans to begin work on a book about his presidency.
Nevertheless, Walters was very pleased with the visit, which drew public attention to his name and brought many new customers to his stores.
