From June 13 to 15, the Irkutsk Region aeromodelling championship will take place in the Kitoy River floodplain, bringing together over 70 athletes from regional cities and Mongolia. Participants aged 10 and older will compete in 14 model classes, and the results will determine the team for the Siberian Federal District championship in Chita. A spectacular air battle with tethered models promises special interest, where in four minutes you must cut the ribbon on the opponent's plane as often as possible.

The Irkutsk Region Championship in radio-controlled and free-flight model aircraft in aeromodelling will be held from June 13 to 15 in the floodplain of the Kitoy River on the border of the Angarsk and Usolsky districts. It is expected that more than 70 athletes from Irkutsk, Angarsk, Usolye-Sibirskoye, Bratsk, Ust-Ilimsk, as well as from Mongolia, will take part in the competition.
The championship participants will be boys and girls aged 10 to 19, as well as men and women aged 20 and older. The championship will be held in individual and team competition. Based on the results of the event, athletes will be selected for further participation in the Siberian Federal District Aeromodelling Championship, which will take place in July in Chita.
The regional championship will be held in 14 classes, which include speed, racing, rubber-powered, and timer models. Thus, participants in the most popular and spectacular type of competition — air combat with tethered models — will have four minutes to cut the ribbon on the tail of the opponent's aircraft as many times as possible.
This year, five members of the Russian national team will take part in the championship. They are Russian Sports Masters Igor Maslovsky and Andrey Kiselev (a participant in four world aeromodelling championships), International Class Sports Masters Artur Kaychuk, Leonid Yakovenko, and Valery Afanasyev.
The Irkutsk Region Championship in radio-controlled and free-flight model aircraft in aeromodelling is a traditional event and has been held for more than 60 years. Last year, the Irkutsk team won the aeromodelling competition. The Angarsk team took second place. Athletes from Usolye-Sibirskoye came third.
