A new angiograph worth 63 million rubles, bought with regional funds, has been launched at the Irkutsk Regional Hospital. The modern system allows more accurate vessel assessment, stent placement and monitoring, and the hospital now has two angiographs. Thanks to this, the radiology surgery department performs over 100 procedures a week instead of 60.

A new angiograph has been installed and is now operating at the Irkutsk Regional Hospital, the Minister of Health of the Irkutsk Region, Nikolai Kornilov, reported. The minister noted that 63 million rubles were allocated from the regional budget for the purchase of the device. The new angiograph is one of the most modern diagnostic and treatment systems installed in Russia. Its capabilities make it possible to provide a comprehensive assessment of the condition of blood vessels, place stents, and monitor the correctness of their placement (this is achieved through intravascular ultrasound). "A stent is an elastic structure that is placed in a narrowed vessel and increases its lumen, restoring the normal function of blood supply to a particular organ."
As the chief physician of the institution, Pyotr Dudin, reported, the hospital now has two angiographs. Thanks to the launch of the new system, the department of X-ray surgical methods of diagnosis and treatment at the Irkutsk Regional Clinical Hospital performs more than 100 interventions a week. Previously, about 60 were performed.
Nikolai Kornilov emphasized that cardiovascular diseases are one of the main causes of mortality among the population. A modern lifestyle, far from optimal, places people aged 40 and over in the risk group. The work of doctors on a modern angiographic system makes it possible to widely use effective and minimally invasive treatment methods, preserving the health and high quality of life of the region’s residents.
